‘Girlie Men’ Criticism Masks Serious Budget Issue

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s comment that Democrat legislators who refuse to negotiate on the state budget were “girlie men” has been heavily criticized by feminists and homosexual activists. Yet, the comments stem from a Saturday Night Live television skit making fun of the governor, and therefore created by some of the very people who now claim it is offensive. Is all this a smoke screen to divert attention away from a serious issue? And how will the governor’s use of his own movie lines play with his constituents? Policy analyst Martha Kleder has more with Michael Bowman, CWA’s Director of State Legislative Relations.
