Confronted With Indecency, FCC Commissioner Changes Mind on a Closed Case

Listen | More on this broadcast

A recent Federal Communications Commission field hearing in Monterey, California erupted when one speaker confronted the commission panel with examples of broadcast indecency violations that were dismissed as a part of the government’s agreement with Clear Channel, the nation’s largest radio chain. That was the first time the FCC Commissioners in attendance had heard the violations they had recently voted to dismiss. Policy Analyst Martha Kleder has this report. (Note: This report contains two short examples of indecent broadcasts as played for the FCC panel. Listener caution is advised.)
