Court Upholds California Marriage Law

Listen | More on this broadcast

California’s Supreme Court upheld the state’s marriage law today and invalidated more than 4,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples in San Francisco. The ruling was a rebuke to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who ordered the city to begin issuing licenses to homosexual couples while the Massachusetts Legislature was debating the merits of a state constitutional amendment protecting marriage as the union of one man and one woman. CWA’s Director of State Legislative Relations, Michael Bowman, has more on this great victory.
