Emmis Communications Pays $300,000 for Indecency Violations

Listen | More on this broadcast

Emmis Communications, the network that airs “Mancow’s Morning Madhouse,” has paid $300,000 to the U.S Treasury in a consent decree that wipes the slate clean of indecency fines and pending investigations of possible indecency violations. Under the agreement Emmis admits to airing indecent material and has instituted a zero-tolerance policy for indecency. Another part of the agreement says that these violations and the pending investigations can not be used against the network when their broadcast licenses come up for renewal. With more on this story, Martha Kleder spoke with David Smith, senior policy analyst for the Illinois Family Institute, the person who originated the complaints against Erich “Mancow” Muller.
