Target Stores Ban Salvation Army Kettles

Listen | More on this broadcast

You will not be seeing the familiar red kettle or hear the ringing Salvation Army bell this Christmas season at Target stores. The corporation has ended the Salvation Army’s long-standing exception to the company’s no-solicitation policy, saying they could no longer make an exception for the charity. The move will cost the charity almost 9 million dollars in donations, and for some divisions, mean a cut in programs. Martha Kleder spoke with Major George Hood, the Community Relations Secretary for the Salvation Army U.S.A., on what you can do to make your voice heard at Target, and most importantly, show your support for the Salvation Army.
