Changes Ahead for UNICEF (5:23)

Listen | More on this broadcast

Former Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman is taking the helm of the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She has signaled that changes will be made in the agency, to re-focus its mission back on saving children. For the past decade, Clinton-appointed Carol Bellamy has taken UNICEF in the direction of advocating sexual and reproductive rights. With more on this development we spoke with Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Group (C-FAM). C-FAM issued a 2003 report on the activities of UNICEF under Bellamy, and is one of CWA’s closest allies at the United Nations.
