Legislation Introduced to Give Terri Schiavo a Voice

Listen | More on this broadcast

Rep. Weldon, Bobby and Suzanne Schiavo
Time is running out for Terri Schiavo. A Florida judge has declared that her feeding tube can be removed in less than two weeks.

In an effort to assure that Terri has a full medical review before this death sentence is carried out, two Florida lawmakers have introduced federal legislation that would give Terri and others in her position a right to a full hearing on the facts of her case. The Incapacitated Person’s Legal Protection Act, HR 1151/S539 is sponsored by Dr. Dave Weldon, (R-FL) in the House and Sen. Mel Martinez, (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate.
