Minor Takes Morning After Pill, Suffers Severe Reaction (5:22)

Listen | More on this broadcast

A 16-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania girl took the morning after pill given to her by the local Health Department without a physical examination. Soon after, she was rushed to the emergency room when she started having a severe reaction. It is believed there was an unintended drug interaction between the abortion pill and other prescription drugs the girl was taking. Drug interactions are one of the areas that has not been studied as the makers of the morning after pill, on the market as “Plan B,” rushed the U.S. market. As CWA’s Senior Policy Director Wendy Wright tells us, the parents of this girl are taking the matter to court.
