Sanctity of Life

Concerned Women for America through its Board of Trustees has established Sanctity of Life as one of its seven core issues on which we focus our efforts. Below, please find a few very basic verses that describe the Biblical support we find for our focus on this issue, as taken from our Core Issues: Biblical Foundations document. We also include our concerns on this issue, followed by the goals set forth to reverse the devastating trends in our society, as taken from our Concerns and Goals document.

Sanctity of Life

Humans reflect the image of God.

  • “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

The punishment of death was applied to those who take another’s life because God values human life.

  • “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.” (Genesis 9:6)

God gives life before birth and cares for the unborn.

  • “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” (Psalm 139:13-16)

God has a purpose and calling for individuals even before we are born.

  • “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
  • “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” (Luke 1:15)

CONCERNS
We are concerned about:
GOALS
We are working to see:

SANCTITY OF LIFE

1. The protection of innocent human life — including protecting the unborn from abortion, fetal tissue experimentation, and embryonic research; and society from euthanasia, cloning, population control and human genetic engineering.

SANCTITY OF LIFE

1. Laws passed to protect our society from practices and policies that endanger or debase innocent human life.

2. The physical, emotional and spiritual harm to women, men and their families resulting from abortion.2. Public awareness of the harm of abortion to women, men and their families; and the promotion of pregnancy care centers and post-abortion counseling services.

NANCE: Skewing data to uphold abortion9/3/2014

In a recent article, NARAL Pro-Choice America released a poll making the startling claim that nearly 70 percent of registered voters say the government should not restrict access to abortion. Although this is a convenient narrative, it’s less than representative of American opinion, and I suspect they know it. What do Americans think? How does […]  READ MORE

Democrats Push Radical Pro-Abortion Legislation7/15/2014

This week, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on one of the most awful pieces of legislation in recent memory.  The bill is S.1696, the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act.  At a time where we have seen the horrible results of government’s special treatment of abortion clinics, an extremely radical faction of the Democratic […]  READ MORE

Face to Face: The Hobby Lobby Decision6/30/2014

8:30 a.m. As I walked up to the Supreme Court this morning, all I could do was think and pray.  “Today is a BIG day,” I whispered to myself.  With each step I took up the marble steps, anxiety started to build.  There was so much at stake.  Hobby Lobby, a faith-based family business has […]  READ MORE

Concerned Women for America Rallies for Life and Liberty6/26/2014

Massachusetts’ Buffer Zone Law “imposes serious burdens” on pro-life counselors and is a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution. That was the conclusion of a unanimous U.S. Supreme Court this week, and Concerned Women for America (CWA) was there to celebrate the incredible victory! Below are some pictures, video and tweets of our […]  READ MORE

[AUDIO] Help us Stop Discrimination Against Children with Disabilities6/3/2014

Did you know that parents can sue on the grounds that they would have aborted their child if they’d known beforehand their child would be born with disabilities? You won’t believe this. CWA’s Director of House Legislation, Shari Rendall, and Legislative Intern, Kaylyn Caruso, spoke with U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-Mississippi) about his bill, the […]  READ MORE

Abortion Advocates Plumbing the Depths for Donations5/15/2014

Nothing quite says, “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom,” like making a donation to Planned Parenthood in her honor. If you had made a $25 donation to Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region by May 6, you could have had a box of 6 “Chocolates for Choice” sent to your mom. A donation of $50 would […]  READ MORE

Burn Baby Burn, Literally4/30/2014

The article title does not refer to The Trammps 1976 hit, “Disco Inferno” but rather points to the latest example of the conflagration of our humanity. Dante’s “Inferno” would be a better indicator as to the direction we are headed. In March 2014, a U.K Telegraph news story reported that more than 15,000 aborted and […]  READ MORE
