Crouse to Address Issue of the Girl-Child at United Nations
“While adults blithely surf the turbulent cultural and social seas of promiscuity, cohabitation, divorce, and single parenthood, many are oblivious to the waves that inevitably bear down on at-risk children, tossing them and pummeling them and ultimately leaving them battered and broken if they manage to survive the ride.” – Janice Shaw Crouse

Washington, D.C. – A major concern at the annual Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations is the empowerment of at-risk girls. On Wednesday, March 2, 2011, Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Senior Fellow of Concerned Women for America’s Beverly LaHaye Institute, will present a workshop titled, “Moving the Girl-Child from Risk to Empowerment.” The session [10:00 a.m. on the 11th Floor of the Church Center] focuses on the ways that even the wealthiest nations are failing children.

Dr. Crouse said, “The vast body of research around the world documents the outcomes of those experimental pipe dreams that have done so much to diminish children’s hopes and possibilities for a bright and promising future.”

Regarding abortion, Crouse said, “If you slaughter the innocents, you destroy the future. When you heartlessly kill the most vulnerable among us, you create a violent and callous culture where no one is safe.” She also declared that the United Nations holds two contradictory beliefs: (1) Abortion is a matter of “women’s rights,” and (2) Sex-selection abortion is a morally-reprehensible crime against the “girl-child.”

Regarding the necessity for marriage in protecting and nurturing children, Crouse said, “Family structure makes a huge difference in children’s well-being. The values that lead to marriage and positive lifestyle choices give a baby its best odds for healthy and normal development and a future of empowerment. The data show that neither advances in science, modern technology, nor government programs can offset the negative outcomes of not having a married mother and father for the family.”

Regarding the need for children to have a spiritual foundation, Crouse said, “Without moral absolutes, all our children are at risk. When moral boundaries are blurred, children are no longer safe; the culture is no longer child-friendly.”
