Now, CWA is advancing from broadcast to broadband with new audio content exclusively on the web. With the ability to offer up-to-the minute news and information from Washington, D.C., we hope to provide our members, the media, and the public at large with the latest audio - and video - news releases with commentary from its team of experts on social and cultural issues, right here from CWFA.org.

A secret government "Terrorist Watch List," reportedly already swelled to more than 1.1 million names, is causing trouble for everyday citizens. Thanks to his name being on the list, James Robinson, a retired U.S. Air National Guard brigadier general now a commercial airline pilot, is being detained when he tries to board his plane and is challenged for carrying a firearm onboard although he has been authorized to do so by the Transportation Safety Administration. Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and editor of Gun Week, says he has had reports from many other citizens about this mysterious list. Now, an addendum is being proposed in Congress - also with great secrecy -- that would empower the U.S. Attorney General to deny a person the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights to purchase a firearm. With these quiet attacks on American's Second Amendment rights, which freedoms will Congress and the Obama administration target next? Listen | Download
Evidence of Sotomayor's personal bias and her distorted view of the Constitution and the proper role of a judge continue to be raised by a multitude of sources. Phillip Jauregui, President of the Judicial Action Group (JAG), and Nicholas Beckham, Staff Attorney with JAG, speak about the nomination of Judge Sotomayor and expose another grave concern with her judicial philosophy: the role that international law should play in our domestic courts. Judge Sotomayor wrote on a foreword to a book on international law that, "the question of how much we have to learn from foreign law and the international community when interpreting our Constitution is not the only one worth posing. As The International Judge makes clear, we should also question how much we have to learn from international courts and from their male and female judges about the process of judging and the factors outside of the law that influence our decisions" (emphasis ours). Elaine Driscoll was recently named State Director for CWA of New Hampshire. She is committed to building a solid organization filled with men and women who want to see Godly values restored in her state. She has a big challenge ahead. Elaine has a unique obstacle to overcome if she wants to see Biblical Marriage restored in her state. Mike Mears, CWALAC director of State Legislative Relations spoke with Elaine about these challenges and what it will take to overturn same sex marriage in New Hampshire. Elaine will be participating in the Concord, New Hampshire TEA Party on July 11. Listen | Download
As Senators return home this week for the July 4th recess, it is crucial that they hear from you on the importance of the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. We must let them know that judicial nominations are a priority for us and that we want them to engage in a meaningful debate on the proper role of a judge. Are judges supposed to be impartial or are they to show preference towards one group or another as Sotomayor suggests? Manuel Miranda, Chairman of the Third Branch Conference, and Mario Diaz, Esq., CWA's Policy Director for Legal Issues, talk about the importance of this nomination and what we must do to restore a proper view of our judiciary. The government is promising that they can get into game of providing health care coverage for those currently uninsured, and that it will not impact your coverage or choice of physicians. James Lansberry disagrees. As president of the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries and the vice president of Samaritan Ministries International, a health care cost sharing group, says that increased government involvement in health care will lead to cost increases, over-regulation, and cost shifting as well as a loss of choice. "One of the traditional methods of imposing statism, or socialism, on a people has been by way of medicine. It's very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can't afford it." Those are the haunting words of former President Ronald Reagan. Bill Whittle of ejectejecteject.com and Pajamasmedia.com has provided both a transcript and the audio clip of Reagan's discussion of national health care. 6/25/2009

The Obama presidency is breaking ground that goes far beyond racial barriers. As many Evangelicals have noticed, while the President claims the Christian faith and invokes the name of Jesus, he is at the same time at odds and even hostile to those who make similar claims. The President has also claimed to at one time follow the Islamic faith. Dr Janice Crouse, Senior Fellow and Director of CWA's Beverly LaHaye Institute, looks at Obama's upbringing and faith traditions and sheds some light on the President's divergent faith claims and actions. Bullseye Collection Agency, a small family-run business based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, distinguishes itself through business practices that demonstrate respect and diligence, which is proclaimed in their letterhead with the acronym “WWJD.” The use of that acronym has now been challenged by its competitor Bureau of Collection Recovery, LLC (BCR), one of the largest collection agencies in the nation, as a violation of the federal Debt Collection Practices Act. BCR claims that the acronym is “offensive” and “harassing.” Horatio Mihet, Senior Litigation Counsel for Liberty Counsel, says that Bullseye’s use of WWJD does not violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and so Liberty Counsel has come alongside this firm to defend Bullseye and the religious rights of all businessmen. After decades of focus on women in our society, problems are growing among the young men in our society. Dr Janice Crouse, Senior Fellow and Director of CWA's Beverly LaHaye Institute, says that anti-male bias in our society is leading to an increase in fewer educated males, fewer males who are successfully building long-term relationships with women and starting families, and a general disrespect for masculine traits and qualities. Could this trend lead to fewer of today's boys ever receiving a Fathers Day card of their own? Listen | Download
Congress is working on a health care reform package sponsored by Senator Edward Kennedy, D-Massachusetts. The measure has many troubling aspects that Amy Meneffee, Policy Advisor for Patients First, says will certainly increase health care costs, and could possibly cause millions of Americans to loose the health care choices they currently enjoy. CWA's Director of Legislation and Public Policy Shari Rendall adds that plans currently before the Senate could lead to the government dictating that all insurance plans cover abortion, forcing health care workers to perform abortions, and/or the rationing and denying health care for the elderly or medically fragile newborns. Patients must make their voices heard before these provisions are enacted. Call your Senators today at 202-224-3121 and join with Patients First at www.JoinPatientsFirst.com. Listen | Download
